alright, I have a computer with two hardrives. In one hardrive I have Windows XP and on the other I have Linux Fedora. When I start up the computer it goes straight to the XP welcome screen. I want it where I can choose if I want to start XP or Fedora. How do I do that?

if both your disc are bootable, you can select which one will be used from your bios setup screen. This may not be the best way to do it but here's instructions:
1. When computer starts to boot press the escape or delete key to enter bios mode. ( the exact cable very based on motherboard).
2. Open advanced bios features
3. Select the drive you would like to boot from.
4. Press F10 to save and exit.
5. Press "Y" to confirm.

The computer will now boot to the selected drive.
You have just managed to change operating system without changing the information on the hard drives.

The better way to do this is when you install the Linux is to install the boot manager such as Grub or Lido. With these every time you boot your computer you will see a menu or you can select what operating system you would like to run at that time.

Try the info in this link. It may involve re-installing everything to get a corrent config. Modifying the boot.ini on the windows drive might also provide some clues, but I've never dual booted anything other Windows OS's.

You might want to try using Microsoft Virtual PC (free download from MS) - you can run both OS's at the same time - with native speeds.
