Stay in shape. Make sure you have a killer serve. Practice setting, spiking and underhand passing. Stay agile.
The best advice I can give you is to go to a Volleyball camp this summer.

Join a volleyball club you will play in tournaments and get plenty of practice also over the summer go to a good camp that is going to teach you all the skills you will need to make the varsity team. My daughter did the exact things I am telling you to do and she made her varsity team in her sophomore year of highschool.

Arm strength, arm strength, arm strength!!!! You'll need LOTS of it!!!! Serving is my TOTAL weak point!!!! I can't serve overhand if my life depended on it. lol. Do 2 pushups a day (my friend's advice to me). You'll get stronger. You need good timing. Work on high, strong sets, so people can spike them. You need a controlled bump, hit it straight up, so the setter could set it. I've seen the Varsity games at my school and they're tough. In my school, pretty much only seniors play, unless you're REALLY good. GOOD LUCK!! HOPE YA MAKE IT!!

Volleyball is a pretty easy sport to learn. It just takes time to master. What you should work on right now is strengthening your legs and core muscles by jogging, doing squats and lotsa situps and ab work. When you have strong legs and abs, it easier for you to run around the court and chase balls, and you'll have a higher jump for those killer spikes. But the most important thing of course is for you to practice the basic ball handling. Just practice, practice, practice. :D
