Excuse me for saying this, but it is not for us as people to expect God to be molded to our liking. It is for us to submit ourselves to His soverignty. Open the bible and read and pray to God to help you learn what He would have you know of His character.

God is God and cannot be changed. The God of the Old Testament is the same as the God of the New Testament. What God has said he has said and he means. If God wanted to say something different than what he said in the Bible, then he would have said it. You cannot understand God from reading the Old Testament alone----you must include the New Testament with your studies. This is where the Jews have problems with Christianity---they feel that the Old Testament is an end in itself, but the reality of God's word is that the Old Testament is a precursor to the New Testament. Jesus is seen in Genesis 1:1 and he is seen in Revelation 22:21, and every verse in between. God becomes palatable when you make peace with him. Peace comes when you realize that you cannot live without him and that you must live life his way, which is the sinless way. This attitude of sinning less to achieve the kind of holiness that God expects of you comes by surrendering your personal rights and submitting to God in all things. It requires releasing the stongholds in your life, and these strongholds are sins that keep you away from God. You cannot do this without the blood of Jesus. Open your heart to the Holy Spirit and he will show you the love of God that is in the Old Testament. The Song of Solomon in its entireity is God's love song to Israel. God is always loving, even in his wrath. The Bible says that the wrath of God is righteous anger because God means it for the good of humankind.

In my studies, I have found that the New Testament God is much more palatable. He is more about love, and giving humanity a chance by sacrificing his son for us. One thing to take into consideration is the different historical periods in which the two testament were written. I'm not the average, and I don't take it as literal, much of the bible I believe was written in parables. So maybe you shouldn't take it so literal.

God has not changed, but I have changed. The Old Testament to a new Christian comes off pretty hard. I admit feeling this way my self. After all kill a rebellious child, I couldn't kill a flea. I learned as I matured that the Bible is correct. God was trying to get a people - His people after Him. As far as killing a rebellious child, God was saying if you raise a child without godly discipline and in His Word that you are raising a rebellious child. A child or person who rebels against God at the Great White Throne Judgment will be sent to hell. It is a hard scripture, but God is the Judge of this world. He is telling Israel - do not raise a rebellious child against My Word. Lot offering his two daughters to a bunch of homosexual men wanting relationships with the two angels is another harsh statement to me in the Bible. I can tell you one thing and that is Lot was only saved because of Abraham.

Names = characteristics. Every name of God in the Old Testament revealed a certain characteristic of Him. All of those names are incorporated into the name of Jesus as we Know Him in the New Testament. The name of Jesus Christ is the most powerful name in the world! Mark 16:17. I hope that this clears up any questions.

I am not being cheecky or rude when I ask this but I need some clarification before I answer your question. First, have you read the Bible for yourself (without someone hovering over you to convince you what it says to them)? Second, what prompts you to thing that God, as presented in the Old Testmanent, is different from God in the New Testament? Third, what seems to make God unpalatable for you?

perhaps there are Books that you need to read to learn, in which case in front of such a Book, you will need and anyone for the matter, will need to accept an attitude of being ready to learn?, The Bible and the Old a/o New Testament, are mostly Inspirational, as you go true the pages, perhaps, you can see, your own changes in attitude or perception, if there is something in the Bible you can't grasp,(because at any rate it will be difficult to understand), To which if you can't Grasp!, look-up, but, like twisting your eyes, around and around, whit in the socket of you skull?, (did I have been to grossly graphical), I'm Sorry, but look-up!...., and, ask for Inspiration to HIM(God), because its hard for me to inspire you, don't try to learn to memorize to quote the Bible, automatically, that is what false prophets due, with the help of the (demon-man), The Beast, and the Devil. take it simple The Bible, is now a day's, the best book ever, to learn the Basic Instruction Before Living Earth. be a good Girl and God bless you, in the name of his Son Jesus. hey ! were in the new testament the old is over we don`t need
it any more.most of it was put together from many varied
scriptures and there is a lot of superstition and cave man
mentality in it. Jesus came and laid down a new order for us.
but even that has been tainted with human dogma, so call on
his spirit for guidance more than any book.

Wouldn't it be better for you to make yourself more palatable to God and Jesus Christ? The alternative will not be enjoyable to say the least. Jesus paid the price for you and offered you the sweetest deal you will ever get. Talk about a precious gift, you just can't beat it. All you have to do is follow Jesus Christ's commands. He is very forgiving of us as sinners.

NO.

God Himself did it.
He sent Jesus.
The new testament is now in.
The old is out.
Jesus inaugurated the New Will, Testament, Covenant in His Blood. 2000 years ago.
The New Testament is where we are.
It is by faith---believing.
A key verse in the Bible is this one.
Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
It is my hope that He has given you this GIFT. No working, just accepting. OLAY!
