When you listen to anything in Spanish, you will probably understand at least a little bit (sometimes even only a word or two). Your brain is capable of processing the information that you can understand, and building on that. Eventually, as you learn more, and use the context of what you are hearing to help you and your background knowledge on the topic, your brain will be able to figure out more and more of the meaning that you hear. Then, in the future when you hear more Spanish, your brain will be able to use its increased ability to understand to understand even more.

When I first started watching TV in Spanish, I felt fortunate if I could understand even what the main topic of the story was. Over time my ability to understand got better, so now I can get most of the information. Give it a try.

Well, you need to know at least a bit before you watch so you kind of understand but it's like when you are a baby; you hear the words and when they are used and then understand what they mean. It would take a long time though and it is confusing so if you are looking to learn spanish I would go on Google language tools or take a class.
