I think it is funny that most Christians call them selves good Christians cause they go to church everytime they are supposed to and that is all they do. Do you realize there is more to being a good Christian. Also Why do you base everything on how people look? Don't you think it is time to stop with this? I am a Christian Man who is kinda fed up with the So Called Believers who Judge me and the the Friends I hang out with. I can't Even walk into a church without getting practically kicked out. I believe in God and that Jesus Died for my sins, I read the Bible all the time (Albeit I cannot quote it very well) and try to live my life the way a person should. Am I a good Christian, I say probably not, although a select few of my friends would say I am an outstanding one. But I really don't believe it. Why should a fellow Christian be Shunned by other Christians, by what I Listen too, How I dress?? Are my Actions not good enough?? Does me helping my fellow man not make me a good person???

I think I live in the Mecca of the Christian world. SW Missourri to be exact. This is probably the Worst for being strict on the does and don'ts of christianity. Unfortunately for me they have rules for Christians I have never seen in the Bible before. I think that is funny.

I agree some Christians are hypocrites and we aren't perfect and some Christians have to realize that. Who are we here to please other's or God? and thats a question that many Christian's need to realize when they judge others. Not all Christians are judgemental and base everything on how people look. Your Christian walk isn't all about other people its about the relationship with you and Jesus Christ and do what is pleasing to God. Here is some bible verses to help you :-) Be strong and do not give up, don't let other Christians ruin the walk between you and the Lord.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
“Humble ourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you”
1 Peter 5:6-7
God has said, “Never will I leave you; Never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5-6
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on it’s stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world-- the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and it’s desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”
1 John 2:15-17
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building other up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. An do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, and with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:29-32
(unwholesome talk= swearing)
“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”
James 1:12

Sounds like you have had some really bad church experiences. Those churches were just trying to do church the best way a man could and without God all one gets is man...not pretty. It is hard to find a community of true Christians - followers of Christ but we are out there. We may be hard to find because we tend to minister using few words as we reflect Jesus in our lives by placing others needs before our own. Jesus is our standard, only one to follow. You might want to check churches that follow the Willow Creek model...do a search, give it a try. You may be surprised in what you find. Christians do need to be in an encouraging and supportive environment to experience all that God has for not only for you but for others. Believers have a tough time in this world and it is good to get together with like minded...refreshing.

If you believe that Jesus died for your sins and try to live the teachings of the bible then you are a good christian.
I'm in the same boat with you that I'm fed up with other people judging. Just because you go to church every week does not mean that you are in a position to judge how good of a christian someone is. Live and let live.
A sin is a sin is a sin. We are all sinners and are all equal. Don't worry about what others think. By judging you they themselves are just as guilty as they may think you are. Sounds like you need to move to a less oppressive area..... Good luck and God bless. Keep fighting the good fight and don't worry about others.
And about the way you dress, keep in mind that Jesus didn't wear pants in public, what he wore was basically a dress..... :)
Andrew W, you are WAY off base. I don't hate anyone and I'm a christian. Your bigotry of christians makes you as bad as the people you hate. Again, live and let live!!

To be a Christian is to believe that Jesus died and paid for your individual sin.
Not a church or a group.
It is individual.--YOU.
To be put under rules and regulations is religiosity.
This is done by most church organizations.
The Bible should be your guide.
Any deviation from the Bible New Testament is wrong.
New Testament I said because that is where we are.
Inaugurated in His Blood 2000 years ago. Hebrews 9 and 10 chapters. Chapter 8:13 tells you about the Covenants--Testament- Will all words mean the same thing. Pay attention to the word HE in 8:13. If He said it, then that is the way it is.
NEW TESTAMENT my boy!

Hi there,I fully sympathize with your comments,I cannot understand how the word of God that was meant to set people free is being used as a weapon of mass destruction, and by the very people who claim to have Christ and the Holy Spirit within them.
I have come to see that too mant die-hard Christians have become like the Pharisees of Jesus`s time, and they may well quote chapter and verse perfectly but where is the same compassion and love that Christ showed to all?

One of the truest statements ever made is that you should not judge a book by it's cover.
As a Christian Preacher I run into this pre-conceived idea of what a Christian should look like all the time.
I know of several Preachers that look the part, don't drink, smoke or anything else and yet they beat their wife's.
Christianity is about a relationship with God and Jesus Christ.
It's also about a way of living and conducting ourselves in life.
But then it's about obedience to the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ also.

there are many churches that set a 'man made standard' as to what they find acceptable in a Christian. Jesus doesnt give a flip at what you wear as long as your heart is in glorifying God... my favorite worship service is our biker sundays.... we have Christian biker groups who come out in full leathers and the service is the most worshipful as any! it is awesome. We do not have to live by man's standards but by God's standards... we need to live our lives to glorify Him and not worry about what 'people' think or judge, for they are not our judge and jury... only God is.
as for being 'good'... that is another thing that we have to look at... are we 'good' in man's idea... or are we 'good' in God's ideal? there are lots of 'good' people in the world... but many of them havent accepted Jesus... so 'good' isnt 'good enough'...
as long as your thoughts words and deeds reflect and glorify the Lord.. and you have laid down your life and surrendered to Christ, you are a Christian
