Adoreable I asked pertaining the Qu'ran so I would imagine if you are reading a Bible it would be very different from the Qu'ran

I;m not sure what version of Bible you are reading but it should say the lord will provide himself a lamb...although it was a ram that was caught up and sacrificed.

Guy first you should read the question it says Ishmael because the quran misinterpreted it thus. The fact is if you read you Bible Issac was nopt simply spared as you say but a sacrifice was made in hisnplace and the same is true of the Qu'ran...and is a fine example of the atonement where the lamb of God did die in our place. This in the bbile is clear prophesys you should read it and see even the fact that Abrhama named the mount Jehova Jirah because he said the lord would provide himslef a lamb....Imagine he did provide himself a lamb.

Kimo so glad you asked..firstly Issac was his only son because Ishmael had been sent away...second it was for the obvious sake of prophesise that god would sacrtifice his only begotten Son who was the lamb that Abraham siad he would provide for himself....Does the bible say that the ram was Caught up and sacrificed in the place of Issac? Does the Qu'ran also show a sacrifice was made in place of Ishmael? Congratulations you have yourself a prophesy of God ...the true God in your Quran of the coming of the lamb of God!!!!

Kimo think about oit the story is completely in the first book of Moses had moses not told you who Ishmael was we would not have known Ishmael evere existed . Moses did not forget that ismaels was Abrham's son...the reason for the only son was to give the prophesy and Ishmael ws sent away and the only son of the promise was Issac....Your arguement is with God and Moses and perhaps Abraham....this is a prophesy of the coming Messiah who would be substituted for us all and in this case for Abrhams son...Abrhama c;early says the lord will provide himself a lamb and named the mount Jehova Jirah ..which means the lord will provide because he said The lord WILL provide himself a lamb.

Guy next door it matters not the misinterpretations of the books of Moses made by the Quran as the Quran was written 2000 years after Moses had already givin the prophesy of the coming of Christ who did fufill this propesy before the Quran was written!!!!!

Guy next door surely the errors are wiht the Qu'ran which was 2000 years after the prophesy and 500 years after this prophesy was fufilled...God did provided the lamb that Abrham spoke of 500 years before the Qu'ran too bad Muhammad did not notice.

2007-02-17 03:19:44 · update #7

I agree Rat...But they are real careful wiht this question because...they don't tlike the substitutioon atonement aspect....lol Muhammad did not know this was a prophesy of the coming of Christ or it would not be in the Qu'ran.

Guy next door the story is the same wiht changes made but you must surely agre it is the same event so to say it is not prophesy in the Quran is....not really a wise thing to say as it is suposed to be the same God and suposed to be the same Abrhama clesrly the event only happened once and was told first by Moses and 2000 years later by Muhammad....If you wish to say allah fine none the less the story in the Quran was told 2000 years earlier suposedly by the same God so if it was prophesy when M

Muslims believe it was Ishmael's life that was put for a test but God substituted him with a lamb. Christians believe it was Isaac instead.

First, Both Qur'an and Bible agree that God's command was a test to the faith of Abraham. and he didn't ask him to kill his son for remission of sins.

Second, the bible says he was Isaac, but at the same time, it says your only son. how can Isaac be the only son?

EDIT .. The verse says that God provided an animal instead of man .. but human sacrifice is forbidden in Torah ; The prophet Ezekiel warned against Christendom's central doctrine that an innocent human being can die for the sins of the wicked.
Throughout the 18th chapter, Ezekiel warned his people that this erroneous teaching that a righteous man could die for another man's sins was contrary to the will of God. The way for the sinful man to come right by God is to turn away from his rebellious ways, repent, and thereby the penitent is assured complete forgiveness. Throughout Ezekiel's uplifting sermon on the forgiveness of sin, blood sacrifices are never mentioned. Ezekiel 18:1-4, 19-23.

EDIT: so because Ishmael was sent away it makes him no longer a son of Abraham?

What saved Ismail 's life was the devotion Abraham had to God, To go to the point where He was going to sacrifice His own son to prove His adoration and servitude of God, God presented Him with a Lamb as a substitute and spare the life of His Child.

PS: For Muslims, Ismail was the son about to be sacrificed. As opposed to Isaac for Christians.

As far as i know you asked the question to Muslims. Muslims do not follow the Bible but thew Coran. In regard to your question, my answer is based on the Coran. So please, don't confuse things and sources.
For Muslims, Ismail is the muslim heir to Abraham. The lamb was indeed sacrificed. Hence why Muslims celebrate Eid el Adha (Celebration of the Sacrifice) every year 60 days +10 after the end of Ramadan.
It was not the blood that saved Ismail, it was the devotion of Abraham.
Keep everything you asked about in retrospect to the Coran ..not the Bible. In the coran and the muslim religion, it's Ismail, not Ishmael (Hebrew consonance).
Please try to read a bit more before making statements that make no sense.
Kimo makes also a valid correction.

God did not make a prophecy in the Coran about it, He simply recounted what went on. Mohamed (PBUH) did not make any of the words in the Coran but simply recited what was told to Him by Angel Grabiel.

As I said, your opinion is already biased by your belief, and i totally respect that you have your own belief, but again, try to get your facts straight and learn more before you try to make your point. If you wished to debate the question do not ask Muslims about their knowledge but rather ask to debate the essence of the holly writingsthemselves and compare beliefs.

Peace out.
