Oh yes!! And my mum was the school cook so she makes it for me all the time still.
Proper chocolate concrete (the stuff i think you mean, and not what some of the answerers are refering to) is like shortbread, but rock hard and obviously chocolate flavour. If you could get your spoon through it without it flying out of the bowl and spilling the pink custard down your navy blue school skirt and drying like a cumstain you were much cleverer than me!!!

I'm afraid your dating yourself 100%, I used to dread some of those school dinner afters. Steamed puddings, remember them. I don't recall Chocolate Concrete, but do remember pink custard.
Did anyone have bright yellow spongecake with pink icing, served with custard. I spotted something very similar in Greggs the Bakers recently, described as Tottenham cake.
My favourites were the pies and crumbles, apple, blackberry, rhubarb and cherry. Delicious!

No but remember chocolate sponge cake with chocolate custard!! It was really nice!! And arctic roll!! And jelly with evapourated milk!! Yum Yum!! I hated school dinners but liked the desserts!! And then there was apple or rhubarb crumble - I didn't like those though -eurggg!

Yep. The chocolate "sponge" cake and that sickly pink goo with a skin on top .Ah Memories
And no one could boil fish fingers like the dinner ladies!

Yeah I remember those. Did you ever have green lumpy custard - think it was supposed to be Mint Custard. Can't even begin to describe what it looked like - Yuk!!!

God that brings back memories ......... chocolate pudding and pink custard ............ both exactly as they sound ...... The pudding was just like a lump of concrete and the pink custard was luminous pink ............ thanks for making me smile ....
