It's perfectly normal for cats to drool a little bit. Cats drool when they are comfortable and they forget to swallow their spit. They don't even realize it when they do this. When you notice this gently rub their cheek or under their chin. Doing this will get them to swallow, but keep them comfortable at the same time. If the drooling becomes worse take the cat to the vet.

One out of my four cats is a happy/excited drooler. He only does it when we have corn dogs for lunch, because he LOVES to nibble on the sticks. As soon as he sees us put them into the oven, he starts drooling and then he'll ignore all his training and jump up on to the table, drooling all the way, and grab the sticks. It's disgusting, but the first time he did it, my husband and I almost choked on our food we started laughing so hard. I called my vet (after I was finished with the hysterics) and he said it's a common thing. I would go ahead and call the vet, but this does sound normal to me (but I'm not a vet).

My boy cat is the same. His drooling is just a sign that he's really happy. He must trust you a lot to let you pat his belly - it's the ultimate compliment a cat can give.

First of all cats are not stupid, in fact they are very intelligent creatures.
Second, your cat doesn't have a mental disorder.
It's very common when a cat is overstimulated for them to drool.

If you notice that your cat does this ALL the time and not just when he's being petted then yes, you may want to take him to the Vet....but if it only happens during the belly rubbing I'd say it's nothing to worry about.

Haha!! I had a male cat that did that as well, when he'd be so happy he'd roll over onto his back and urge me to rub his belly!! He was so sweet, after a few seconds there would be drool EVERYWHERE!!!
It's lovely when cats let you pet their bellies...that is the ULTIMATE sign of Love and Respect from your precious cat friend...

My female cat does this too. Whenever you pet her a lot of if she's furiously purring. I don't know if it's "normal" or not, but there's nothing bad about it, except maybe drool-y hands.

My Ozzy kitty did the same thing. It usually happened when he was purring loud enough for the neighbors to hear him. lol

It's normal. Just means you are a good mommy and you make him happy.
