I read this is a sign of needing anal glands squeezed. She has all of her shots and is dewormed, so I don't think it's worms. She goes to the groomer about every 6 weeks, don't they squeeze them there? How often does it need done? She scoots on carpet about 2-3 times a week, not very often, so I'm not sure if that's even the problem... any thoughts?

Many groomer do NOT express the anal glands. You must be trained to do this. If you try to express the glands and do it incorrectly, you can cause a serious infection. Only a vet should be trusted to express the glands, if this is needed. Take the dog to the vet if the scooting continues.

It could be the anal sac, worms or just an itchy butt. My dog scoots when she gets happy and excited.

You know how we wipe our butts after we poop? That's what your dog is doing. Built up waste has hardened on his butt and he is trying to get it off.

Don't worry about it. Everything is fine
