God gave us free will. He didn't want us to love Him because we have to, He wants us to love Him because we want to. When Adam sinned in the Garden, he chose to disobey God and was seperated from Him. It broke God's heart!!! God loves us so much and wants us to come back to Him in the worst way. That is why He designed a way of escape from the sinful nature that we are born in, to become His Children once again!! In the Old Testament it was The Ark of Noah, and animal sacrifices, because only the shedding of innocent blood can forgive sin. In the New Testament, God Himself came into this economy by way of the Virgin Birth. He walked among us for 30+ years. He died on the cross to shed His innocent Blood as forgiveness for all of our sins. He rose from the grave 3 days later to prove that He overcame death and the grave. He wants us to do the same thing by doing what is written in St. John 3:5 & Acts 2:38. This is how we overcome the things of this world. He wants us to experience this for ourselves.

I believe that every decision we make, every thought, every action, every emotion, is the product of the brain. The brain and its function are determined by heredity and environment. In that sense, although I'd like to think that I chose to sit here and write this answer, I know that this is not really the case. I react to this, I respond to that, like the ball in a pinball machine, it's all cause and effect, and what I have learned and experienced shapes my mind's beliefs. That's why it's important to watch what you believe, because our beliefs determine our actions and they should be able to withstand scientific scrutiny.
I think, therefore I am. The decision to write this is coming from my brain, and there is no other part of me that could have influenced it, so in that sense I don't believe we do have a choice. God has nothing to do with it. God does not exist. Only we exist, and our major organs are only life support systems for our brains. How that brain functions is extremely important, therefore, because if it is damaged, or altered, or there is mental illness, there's going to be trouble. I truly believe that mental health and education are the most important thing on Earth, because it is what each of us needs, and what our society needs. All else is bad data - garbage in, garbage out.
Watch someone with Alzheimer's. It is like watching someone die, because in a sense that's what's happening. The more time passes, the less of that person there is. Or you can look at someone who is brain-dead, and you know that nothing remains of the person. When the brain goes, everything about you goes, and that's what death is, the end of brain function. Brain-dead people are called "vegetables" for a reason. It isn't as though their souls are animating them, there is no sense that they are still there in any way, shape or form, because there is no soul.
I know that seems bleak, but it does put things in perspective.

We're doing this in GCSE RE now, and the Bible says that God has planned our life down to "all of the hairs on your head have been counted", suggesting that life is planned.
However, that would mean God would plan murderers and paedophiles and terrorists. However, again, God said there must be suffereing for the Divine Plan to work.
Also, God gave us free will, so, if life is planned, it can't be free?
That is a debate currently going on in Religious circles.

No, we have choices all of our lives. The choices we make either lead us to follow the Lord or turn away. He knows what our choices will be however, so he can "re-adjust" your life circumstances to lead you to Him, but if you insist in going the other way (the devil and hell) He will let you. You see God created you for HIS family. But He is particular who becomes part of His family, ie; to Love Him is to obey Him, those who obey and love Him will be with Him in heaven...the others won't.

I believe we do have a choice to some extent. I think God sets out a number of paths for us to go down, yet ultimately it is our judgement call which one to go down. I try to avoid the roads without obstacles as they probably won't lead anywhere.

Yes, we have freedom of choice. It's in the Constitution, which was written with God in mind. God guided the hand of our forefathers in writing this document, because He was not too fond of British people.

God gave you the free will to make all the choices you want. You should pray to God about your choices before you make them.

We do have a choice in life. God doesn't have a unchangable plan for our lives. He has his will for us but we have to choose to follow his will. God knows whats going to happen with us but he doesn't plan it for us.

It is true that our basic path is chosen when we touch the earth plane but at the same time we are all given free will so which way that path opens up to us is up to us. If we are meant to go a certain way, or meet certain people, then it will happen by opportunity but it will be up to us if we decide to act on that opportunity.

~~~Reindeer,,, This would render Freewill invalid,,, Next time you're hungry, see how many times you are able to change your mind when choosing your food,,,, Next time you get mad, freeze time, step back, and realize that you make your own choice in how you react,,,Do you retaliate? Lash out? Accept it, and move on? Laugh at yourself,,,, etc, etc, etc, YOU are the Architect of your own life..."You makes yer choices,,,"
