I gave up smoking but I was not really aware of ten "non-health" related benefits until I started to jot them down - amazing how many people didn't quite spot the "non health" criteria.
1. Less Money wasted
2. Not having to organise ciggy runs overseas
3.Not having to go to the garage at 4am when you run out anyway
4.Body smells nicer
5.Clothes smell nicer
6.Not as many "hot rock" burns as I hardle ever smoke pot now
7.House is fresher
8.Ceilings and walls no longer go yellow
9. Light curtains do not get nasty/orangy tint anymore
10. Car is no longer a ghastly mess of cellophane, cig ends and ash
One for luck: Most friends are non-smokers - so is easier
ps: In England, slang for a cigarette is a fa6 - which means something a bit different over the pond - which I guess is why my "fa6-run" - turned into asterisks!

1.Smoking is expensive. It isn't hard to figure out how much you spend on smoking: Multiply how much money you spend on tobacco every day by 365 (days per year) The amount may surprise you. My quit date was 10/15/2006 Here are my top 10 reasons. I owe my attitude and success to Joel at WhyQuit.com and the freedom message board on MSN. I smoked for 23 years 1.5 packs a day. I recommend to get educated about what smoking does to your body and you'll be able to quit too. My reasons for quitting fell into 4 categories: Money, Health, Time, Smell
10. I feel so proud of myself.
9. I save money.
8. I feel accomplished, I am doing something really really hard.
7. I smell so much better. The stench of a smoker and smoking is horrible. You can't hide it. I know this now because my sense of smell has returned.
6. I am proud of myself. I beam everyday and in all facets of my life becuase I have accomplished ovecoming nicotine addiction.
5. I had money to hire a cleaning lady, I decided it wasn't worth it, but funds were there.
4. My self esteem has shot up 100% if not more. If I can overcome nicotine addiction and not smoke, I can do anything!
3. I feel better. I haven't noticed much of a change physically, lots of people do, but I have noticed I climb steps much more easily. I am so much calmer, I am more relaxed. Took some time to get to this state, but I'm calmer.
2. I have more time. I don't spend time messing with smoking, I have more time to make dinner, watch movies, go to the gym (which I can afford now), do projects around the house, etc....
1. I am proud of myself.
I feel like I sound like an evangalist, but I want to share the joy I have found in overcoming nicotine addiction. Go to whyquit, and learn why cold turkey quitting has the best success rate of all quitting methods, and how the pharmceutical and tobacco companies have worked together to keep people addicted to nicotine. All my best to those who choose to quit smoking and to joining me in taking a personal vow to NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF.

I quit five years ago. I was in the hospital for an unrelated surgery and after six days, I figured I was over the nicotine part of it. It was the habit that was hard to break! I chewed on toothpicks which helped a lot. While in the hospital I had my son go to my house and get rid of all the ashtrays and cigarettes in the drawer. Yes, I used to buy them by the carton. When I got home, I printed a sheet that listed what you would feel like in 12 hours, 24 hours etc. and I read that list several times a day. It gave me something to look forward to. I now notice the smell of smoke on people and how you think your fooling everyone when you smoke but deny it. I was tired of washing walls and was embarrassed to have people over because of the smell. There are many reasons to quit. I always remember my Dad saying, "when your older and have to get surgery or go to the hospital, it is going to be ten times harder on you". Well I quit finally when I was 63. Best thing I ever did for myself.

Add up the money that you spend on cigarettes in one month. It is incredible. As a smoker, I did not miss the money each day because it was only $5.00 or so a day, but over a month, $5.00 per day is $150.00. That is actually a low estimate of what I was spending on cigarettes. Put the money aside every day. After each month or two, spend the money on something nice for yourself. Pretty soon, you will have some nice things...just because you quit smoking!!!

1-mate you stink if you smoke
2-its not attractive
3-you will become an outcast when the ban kicks in, if your from UK
4-you will get yellow teeth, and fingers
5-save money
6-you become a better person, instead of craving and thinking smoking is the only option
7-live longer
8-set a good example to the younger 1's, imagine seeing your kids smoking just because you did
9-not a nice person to kiss
10-will stop killing us, your killing your family and freinds if you smoke around them indoors, harsh i know

2)white shirt dont turn yellow after use
3)facial skin appear fresh
4)voice sounds loud n clear
5)feels relax and alert when conducting long hours negotiation
