The reason is that they do supply a huge amount of money to Nascar to be the exclusive tire of Nascar. In return though anything that Nascar wants done to a tire and or changed or whatever Goodyear does and then sends the tire. Its pretty much a give and take deal. Goodyear gives them a large sum of money and tires. Nascar takes the tires uses them the fans, being some of if not the greatest fans in the sports world, see that their favorite driver is using Goodyear tires and goes and buys them and puts them on their own personal vehicle. Its a win win situation all the way around.

Someone else said it earlier, they feel that having only 1 brand keeps it a level playing field as far as the tires are concerned. I personally would like to see Firestone Firehawks used in NASCAR besides the Goodyear Ealges. Back in the early 90's Hoosier tires were used, but were not as popular, so they went solely with Goodyear, plus NASCAR gets alot of money from Goodyear to use their tires.

It's because teams prefer Goodyear by far over others. Through about 1992 to 1994 NASCAR teams had the option of running either Hoosier tires or Goodyear tires. Well simply to say Goodyear won over most teams, and the Hoosier brand dropped out. Their quality could not compete with Goodyear. So ever since, no other tire company has stepped up to challege Goodyear. It would be a steep hill to climb for another brand to challenge them too. Goodyear has their name everywhere, even the blimps flying around the tracks.

They currently have an exclusive contract with NASCAR to supply all of the tires that the teams use. Their contract dates back 50 years and no other tire manufacturer has yet to challenge them. Part of the reason is because there are not many tire manufacturers out there that can easily meet the production needs for NASCAR like Goodyear does.

Goodyear benefits in that they have the corner on tire advertising as far as NASCAR fans go....they're the only game in town.

NASCAR benifits in that there is a research/development partner. This leads to each competitor using the exact same tire as every other competitor. This also contributed to a rain tire development program, which has resulted in rain tires tested an approved...but only for use on the road courses...they've not seen actual race conditions yet.

Nascar has tried many other brands over the last 25 years and it seems that Goodyear always comes up with the safest tire. Also, they are sooooo big that they can sell tires cheaper than say, Cooper, Firestone etc.

It's a sponsorship issue. Goodyear probably gives NASCAR a chunk of change and in return, they get their tires used in all the races.

Because Goodyear gives better BJ's than Hoosier.

Goodyear is a sponsor of NASCAR. As a sponsor, they contribute money to be one. The more money they contribute the more control they have over that event or seriers of events. Sponors pay millions of dollars to get their name up in front of everybody.
