Im trying to format out xp buisness edition and put XP home edition on my computer.

you dont need to. if you get the oem edition it will format it for you if you use the option that comes up when the disk installs in the hard drive.

If, you doing a full install of Windows it will ask what you want to do, when you Boot off the CD. READ, and it will Format (Erase EVERYTHING) and do a full install OR it can upgrade and overwrite the old Windows and leave your Documents and Pictures. I have an external Hard Drive I keep my Documents and Pictures on, then it easy to Format and Install without having to Backup everything important.
