Do the children get a nap late in the day or in the evening? If so, perhaps that could be eliminated or moved to an earlier time so the kids are more tired at night. Also, if you don't already do so, perhaps a protein rich snack before bed will help hold the hunger off til the morning (carbohydrates like starches and sugar are burned off easier than protein like peanut butter and cheese). If all else fails, perhaps a gate could be added to the bedroom door so they cannot escape unheard. Good luck to you!

What time are these boys going to bed at night? If it's early, they'll get up early. If you can keep them fairly active until around 9:00 and then give them a warm bath, a glass of milk and a story to settle them down they should stay asleep until at least 5:00. Don't keep munchies in the house, or lock things up so there isn't anything good for them to go trolling for in the middle of the night. When I read this question to my husband he suggested an alarm on the fridge that would scare the holy heck out of them.
Since you have allowed this behavior to occur it will keep happening unless you actively intervene. Good luck.

I feel your pain, I have a set of twins that are 3, they like butter and bread to eat and milk to drink at about 3 or 4 in the morning, they started out with making a mess, but they've learned to be neat about it, I agree with shorter naps, 1/2 hour to 1 the most and put him to bed at 8:00p.m. I'm going to try it myself...

Sounds like he's getting more rest than he needs in the daytime and maybe you're putting him to bed earlier than need be. Try keeping him up later at night. If that doesn't work then make sure his bedroom is safe and lock the door from the outside. He doesn't need to eat during the night because he going to eat more than he requires and it's going to turn to fat.

You might want to feed him a little more on the last meal of the day, try making it a filling type of food. Make sure you tell him that it is the last meal of the day and to make sure he gets his tummy full....you might also want to try to move dinner time to a later time so it is closer to his bed time.....But make sure he is eating his meals and not picking at them...if he is only picking tell him that if he cleans his plat like a big boy then mommy will give him a surprise....then maybe give some sugar free ice cream or something that will make him want to finish his plat....good luck!!!

When I was a kid, my mom would take me out for a loooooong walk every evening. It wasn't much for her, cuz I would get tired quickly, and it was a lot for me. Then she would run her fingers up and down my arm while I lay in bed and I would sleep like the baby I was ALL night long.
