I have an English setter female; she is 11. My 2 male puppies constantly try to lick her face, especially her chops....every time they see her they run up & start to lick her face, which she does not like at all...... Is this their way of showing their "respect" for her, establishing the pecking order, so to speak.... we cannot break them of this..... they just will not leave her alone. Any advice is appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it. When she has enough she'll let them know that they need to stop! They'll establish their own boundaries.

I don't believe you need to 'break' them of this behavior, it's a normal way for dogs to greet each other. Younger dogs especially do this - it's part of evolution/survival - nothing that needs to be fixed. However, if your female needs some away time from the pups, she should have it. Just put up a baby gate so that she can have a break from time to time.

This is normal behavior for pups. One they are beggingh er to feed them. Two they are showing her respect and that she is the dominant dog.
They are pups and have way more energy thatn she does. It will take some time for her to learn to tolerate them. As long as no one is getting hurt you are most likely ok. Give it time. They will clam so with age.
Be sure you are taking time to do things with just her alone and not with the pups.

This is a standard greeting of the pack. They are not only greeting her they are investigating what she has eaten and if she has brought anything for them. If these are young pups, she will break them of it in time. If it is really annoying her. She also seems to be top-dog.
You can try to encourage them not to annoy her by tossing them a small treat to distract them.
Personally, I'd let her handle the problem.

they do no longer make dogs aggressive. Does your dogs nip at human beings while they arrive close while she has the pig ear? if so, that's through fact she's afraid they're going to take it and he or she's conserving it. it relatively is all. If she does it while she does not have a pig ear, toy, or nutrition then you definately ought to renounce the habit earlier she hurts somebody. yet, that's possibly purely through fact she does not choose everyone close to her pig ear. that's common.

Sounds like they are simply trying to identify with her and find their comfort zone. Pups will be pups !!
