I'm sorry, but I don't know exactly what you mean by the "eye" of the camera. If you mean the place you look through (the viewfinder), I am also sorry that I have never seen the light meter blinking.

However...

There is a small round dot that WILL blink if your camera is not focused. Either the subject is not a good one for autofocus, it is too dark to focus, the lens is not compatible for autofocus or the switch on the side of the lens mount of the camera is set to "M" all the time. Move the switch on the side of your camera to "A" if you are using an autofocus lens. Or, if you are using a non-compatible lens, move the switch to "M" and focus manually. The light will still glow steadily to confirm focus once your subject is in focus.

Otherwise, see page 73 in your manual for some examples of things that will not autofocus well.

Or... Maybe you are seeing the auto-focus assist light, which is explained on page 72.

Set you digicam to "P". you could then turn the command dial to alter the combination of f/end and shutter speed that the digicam will combine to offer you a robust exposure. comprehend nonetheless that the digicam might properly be fooled with the help of a scene this is amazingly dark or very gentle. In "P" you would be waiting to work out on your viewfinder what combos make for a robust exposure. i might desire to 2nd the advice to p.c.. up the e book "understanding exposure". super, super e book and basic to comprehend.
