The practical answer to any question always differs from the theoretical answer. So the theoretical answer to your question is that you cannot. The nasal passage connects to the larynx and finally to the lungs and the nearest opening to the lungs is the mouth and when it is open the nose is non functional. Therefore, only one of the openings is in use.

Yes. You can breath through both your mouth and nose at the same time. Open your mouth and relax your face. Take a breath in. You should be able to feel the air moving through both.

Most of the time I can.
From what I have observed , if you can not breath with both, you are either sucking your thumb, or picking your nose.
