I have had a recurrent exterior ear infection on my earlobe that has lasted 8-10 months now. I have seen several specialists: Dermatologists, Ear Nose and Throat , etc. All they can do is prescribe steroid creams, bactroban and antibiotics. Unfortunately , it doesn't work. I have been through several rounds of antibiotics, continue to use steroid ointments, and even tried antifungal creams...but the infection keeps coming back. Nothing seems to work. The doctors say they can do nothing else for me. They have even taken skin biopsies, but nothing shows up except chronic skin infection. They say just keep using the creams...These are specialists at major research hospitals...if they can't help...I know nobody can. This infection is on my earlobe and it itches intensely. Then it will get crusty. Wish I could offer some advise, but I'm in the same boat and I am at my wits end trying to figure out what is wrong.
