#2. Congrats on getting the A's
#3. The drawing may not have interested her.
#4. She probably brags about you behind your back.
#5. She is doing her job. (It's making you work harder to try and please her isn't it?)
#6. Buy her a card for NO REASON that says, "I love you."

I agree with Renoir's #4. I have been in music for years. Made it to state competition each time I tried. I got the best music scholarship to the university. I did a recital the summer after my sophomore year when I got home. When I did a ceramics fair I got an honorable mention for a bowl I made, and they didn't give many out either. I paint and do quilts also, and I don't hear a thing about how proud they are. I excelled my my studies, and yet I never heard a good job at anything. However, whenever I would talk to one of their friends or a relative that wasn't close to us, I would hear about how much they brag about me. Just because she doesn't say anything to you, doesn't mean she isn't proud of you. She might not have been raised with praise for her good efforts, and that is what she knows.
What I have learned from that, and current life situations is that those that deserve praise don't always get it. Some of us like to have that little pat on the back. But, most are not the type to give it. The most important thing is that you stay proud of yourself. Don't let the fact that you aren't receiving praise bring you down. If what you do makes you happy and proud of yourself give yourself little pats on the back.

Whenever you have an achievement, show your mother and ask her, directly, (not while she is working or doing the dishes), 'Are you proud of me?' She will probably say yes if you ask her. If she doesn't answer, ask her again because maybe she didn't understand you.

Your ma is proud of you, she just can't seem to show it to you..
I was in your shoes before. No matter what I did, my ma seemed not to be satisfied with my achievements. I just realized later in my life that ma has difficulty showing her true feelings to me. But she shared her thoughts and feelings to my husband. She told my hubby how proud she is of me. Just continue doing good things coz deep in her heart, your ma is boasting with pride.....

You don't live your life for your mother; you live it for YOURSELF.
I tried for 50 years to make my mother proud of me until I finally realized it was never going to happen. Don't waste your time stagnated in one place; move on.
