IF you want to add a little more flavor to the gravy, add a little bit of rubbed sage and garlic powder. I use the following recipe for biscuits because they are simple to make.
2 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons butter(room temp)
1 1/2 cup's milk
Combine dry ingredients in bowl and toss with fork til blended. Rub butter in flour with fingers until it disappears into flour. Add milk and mix til lump free. Drop by tablespoonful onto baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes or until tops are golden brown . 400 degree oven.
* If you add 2 tablespoons of sugar to this recipe, you can use biscuits for shortcakes.

This is the easiest and best recipe that I have found

use 1package Bob Evans Sausage.
Crumble into pan and brown until done. Don't drain as this sausage isn't greasy at all and you want the flavor for the little amount that's there.
Coat the cooked sausage with enough flour to completely coat it.
Add milk a little over 1/2 way up the pan.
Add salt and a generous amount of pepper.
Cook on med-high, stirring continuously until at desired thickness.

I can't make homemade biscuits but the best ones that I have found are the Grands Home style biscuits.

Sausage Gravy Marries Buttermilk Biscuits!

When my sausage gravy recipe met my buttermilk biscuit recipe, everyone rejoiced and lived happily ever after!

THE BISCUITS
Preparation time: about 20 minutes...the best 20 minutes you'll probably ever spend cooking! Serves 12-16.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening
4 1/2 cups flour
4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoons soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups buttermilk

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F
Combine flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder
Cut shortening into mixture with pastry blender until size of peas
Add buttermilk and stir until it holds together
Turn out onto a floured surface or pastry cloth
Knead 10 times
Roll 3/4 to 1 inch thick and cut with proper cutter
Place on sheet pan and brush with melted butter (be generous)
Bake for 10-12 minutes, depending on your oven

Split these and ladle my hot sausage gravy over them!

Sausage Gravy Recipe
Preparation time: about 25 minutes. 12 servings.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds sausage
2 ounces fat from cooked sausage
1/2 ounce onions, minced
1 1/2 ounces flour
2 cups beef or pork stock
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:
Cook sausage, drain and save the fat
Add onions to fat and cook until transparent
Add flour and cook 5 minutes but DO NOT brown the flour (you have just made a "roux")
Heat stock and milk together in a separate pan
Add your "roux" to the stock-milk mixture, stirring with a whip
Cook until thick and smooth
Add salt and pepper to taste and add back the cooked sausage and stir

Fabulous! Enjoy!

Well i used to wake up to this every weekend i went to my Grandma's house she would always make it for my grandfather who was off a Native american reservation.

Fry one pound of bacon set the bacon on the side
continue to warm the bacon grease add enough flour to make a paste brown 2-3 minutes then wisk in milk to make gravy. simmer for 5-10 min add onion powder garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste. For the meat we used chipped beef gave it the best flavor much better than sausage. Serve over fresh biscuts
