I have seen this with the thumb extended and not. Is there a difference? Of course I mean that the two inbetween fingers are curled.

hand gestures are the oldest form of communication.

with thumb extended it means I Love You.

there are lots of different meanings for the Horn's Up gesture. It means to me that whatever it is that I am responding to, It is Most Excellent, Awesome, Incredible, Sweet.

Music inspires people to adore the people who make it and the sign of Horn's Up is a blessing of a sort. It is also interpreted as a protection sign or a curse depending on which way the horns point or who the palm faces. It is the intent of the person to bless or curse and the actions that determine the meaning of the sign.

Lots of different interpretations.

The index or first finger and pinky finger, smallest finger extended and the others curled down is Vulcan or Alien from another planet. That is hard to do. American sign language it is the devil.
The index and the next finger extended and the others curled down mean peace or in American sign language "I love you"..
The largest finger extended, with the others curled down is a I am mad at you and hate you.
and you can go to hell finger.
A thumbs up is good and a thumbs down is bad.
When you wave all of them it is hello.
When you clap or slap both hands together it is approval.
We take that knowledge for granted but that is not taught in English class and people in other countries do not understand what that means. They are amazed that we can become so angry by a simple hand gesture.

Hand Signal For Love

There are several European cultures where it means that your gf or wife is unfaithful. This is if the back of the hand faces away from the person making it, the horns (index an pinky) are pointing up, and the thumb is holding down the two middle fingers. This is the sign of the cuckold.

In Texas it can mean: "GO LONGHORNS," cheering for the football team. In a different context it can be cheering for the devil.

The thumps up sign signifies approval. During gladiator times legend has it that the Emperor would ask for a thumbs up, or thumbs down sign from the audience to determine whether or not a fallen gladiator should be finished off or not. There you have it.

It's Chaka Brah from Hawaiian culture. It means just be cool. I was stationed there for 4 years. It's used a LOT there especially in surfing circles.
