Ok... your question is actually reallly loaded.
Some of the people are right... your inner ear is an integral part of balance. There is fluid in the ear called endolymph which swishes around in you semi-circular canals and otolith organs (both in the ear). They hit sensors in the canals and tell your brain about balance. They are involved in a reflex that contracts muscles in your neck opposite to the way it is moving. That is why your neck jerks back when falling asleep with your head falling forward.
Your eyes also play an important role in balance too. In fact some neurones from the eye even go up the same tract as balance (medial longtitudinal fasiculus).
In terms of posture, the brain is super important. The Basal ganglia (which incooperates the subthalamus, putamen, globus pellucidus and caudate nucleas) and the thalamus inhibit unwanted movements that would put you offbalance. Its actually quite a complex system.
When standing upright, you do not normally use many muscles as your bones "lock" out to minimise mucle use. You would predominantly being using the spinae erectae muscles in your back and a muscle in the calf (either the gastrocnemius or soleus...cant remember which). The other muscle would not be used when standing still. This includes the trunk muscles which really tuck your legs in.
I hope this is what you wanted to know. You have a very good (and complex question), testament to you NOT being dumb!

There is not a single most important part of your body. All of your organs work together in an organ system. For example, your brain needs the blood that your heart pumps to it. But your heart also needs your brain, because your brain sends the signals to "tell it" to pump the blood. I guess if I really had to pick one part, I would pick the brain, only because the nervous system controls all other parts of the body. But I believe that there is not a most important part of your body. But I can tell you the least important is your appendix.

Your core muscles (mainly abdomen) are primarily responsible for balance. However, your aductors and abductors are right up there.
I guess if you don't have bones you would just collapse to the ground in a big ol pile of fleshy mush. Bones are always recommended as part of the human condition.

The body measures tension on tendons, stretch of muscles, and so the musculo-skeletal system is aware of its position.
.The inner ear has the vestibular apparatus, , that keeps track of your position with respect to gravity and motion.
The eyes play a major role in keeping upright, and I would think they may be the most important

The big toes, as far as I know, play a big role in keeping balance. Also the inner ear.

don't u consider yourself dumb at all.
for balancing it's always ur brain gets the first important. the back portion of ur brain controls the whole body control.for example that's why the people who don't have legs can balance on their hands.

The first poster is correct. I believe there's a fluid in a chamber that is "read" by the brain. But for the full story:

Your feet and inner ear. Women maintain balance in their waste while men maintain balance in the shoulders.

i don't think it sounds dumb at all,i believe it is your core muscles of your trunk. i only believe this because of taking up yoga. when i began that they always stress using and concentrating on your core muscles for balance for certain moves. you may want to check it out. hope this was helpful. good luck
