the number on the top starts with 2111 like the salmonella jars. I've already eaten about 3/4 of the jar with no sour effects - can i finish it?

i should mention that i haven't eating any of it in a couple months, it's just been sitting there - i figure that if it is 'infected' it would have been 2 or 3 months ago when i last ate from it.

I heard the effects didn't start until few days later. Anyway, why take the chance? Just throw it out! Choosy moms choose Jiff!

Mr Peanut ! Don't worry about it because if you ate 3/4 of the jar and it was bad you would be having one hell of major problem by now . Besides the first 4 numbers don't tell you anything that means anything . The entire number has to match the contaminated peanut butter not just the first 4 . Your ok . So forget it and don't panic . Enjoy your next peanut butter sandwich .

I also have one of those jars and my little boy lives on Peter Pan peanut butter. He was sick as a dog throwing up for 2 days. I thought he had a belly flu until I seen the recall on TV. I'm keeping the jar peanut butter and all. I would like to get tested just in case so I don't jump to conclusions. If they get the cap back you don't have a leg to stand on just in case...........

In theory you can finish the jar but why would you chance it?Throw it out and get a new jar as you really don't want to get salmonella poisoning. It is not a good thing! Is it really worth the $ to risk it?

Food poisoning usually comes on very suddenly (within a day or two). If you've been using it for a while already and have not had any problems, you probably won't get sick. However, do so at your own risk.

If it were me, I think I'd probably not eat it anymore, just to be safe. I've had salmonella before and it's not a fun experience.

Throw the peanut butter away and take the lid to the store the next time you go for a refund. Don't take a chance at getting sick. Salmonella is ugly!

Look like 2111 is the expiration year!!! This is funny, over 100 years. If you eat and you don't feel sick, I guess everything is OK.
Why are you not asking the Company?

I had a jar with the number that I had eaten more than half of and I threw mine away! I wasn't taking any chances!

Take the lid off and go get a refund!!! I mean come on... basically your getting a free jar of peanut butter if you've already eaten three fourths of it... so get a refund.
