Gambling is a lot of fun for a lot of people. Often some of the nicer casinos are so opulent and beautiful you can feel quite special when there. There are so many entertaining games you can play many of which offer the chance to win a huge amount of money. You can literally pop a couple of dollars into a slot machine and win $12,000,000, which is a life changing amount of money.

The thrill and uncertainty of the games, the chance to win big, even the chance to win small is all exciting stuff.

The drawback of course is losing. In order to make a handful of Vegas winners, there has to be a lot of Vegas losers. That's how they build those massive and beautiful hotels. Unfortunately, some losers think that if they play more they can win more. This is of course a completely false premise. The longer you play the more likely you are to lose as the house edge will catch up with you.

So some people gamble far more than they can afford, often deluding themselves that they have a system to beat the house, or thinking they can repeat a small win they may have once had. The keep chasing this win, at the same time losing a lot of money. They perhaps even steal money or go into debt looking for that win that never comes.

Compulsive gamblers start playing at very high stakes because of the thrill of the win, and risk of the loss creates excitement for them. It can be a sad downward spiral, that costs them a lot.

The important thing is never to gamble more than you can comfortably afford to lose.

First I am going to say that there is no appeal. It is kind of like drinking. It is fun at the time, but if you do it too much, you can become addicted. People actually get the gambling "disease" from doing it too much and cant stop until they lose everything. That being said, it is fun and a good eay to blow off steam. I enjoy playing no limit poker with my friends. We usually buy in with about $20 and thats about it. Once the money is gone, it is gone. Anything in moderation is alright. I have been to Las Vegas as well and it is smart to just bring what you can afford to lose and nothing more, not even your bank card. Gambling makes games and sports more fun because it makes you more involved and you have a stake in the outcome. On the reverse though, that can cause some people to flip out and go nuts over the outcome, causing them to do some bad things to try to make the outcome go their way. Some people get desperate, because they go beyond their means. In conclusion, gambling can be a lot of fun. Just do not goin over your head, keep it in moderation, dont go beyond your means, and just have fun with it.

I suspect some of gambling comes from a heredity gene where a person suffers a weakness, just as a weakness for alcohol , sex or any other addiction. And it's exciting, thrilling, it's like a world series game where everyone is enthusiastic, and what brings people back to doing it more is that the slots or the games are rigged to give back money occasionally, so the feeling of being a "winner" and being able to be elated for a while in talking about that to your friends and relatives is a worthwhile feeling of euphoria.

The biggest drawback is that people lose money by continuing to bet and they lose their money (the money that was to support their families) a lot of people fall prey to those who want to bring them into illegal things like prostitution, crack and other drugs, alcohol, etc. .A lot of people go bankrupt. Bankruptcy might sound like a way out but it can and does ruin your life.

gambling has been shown to activate pleasure centers in the brain. Fun the few times you win, not so much the most times you lose.
