Obviously you have to do it when she is season. Introduce the male to her and she will let you know if she is interested or not. May take a few times for them to get along. if she growls and fights him off, she isn't ready. She will play and love all over him when she is and let him mount her and don't panic when they get stuck that is supposed to happen. You will not get puppies if it doesn't.

For the life of me I have no clue where some of these answers come from. A female is in heart for three weeks. Her prime is around the 12 th day. To know when she is ready to breed scratch her back side if she stand upright and crocks her tail then she is ready. Some times it may take a while because maybe it is the first time for male and female. Some times mine take all day sometimes just a few minutes. They like to play first.
Breed her that day then wait a day then breed her again..I like to see two breeding with a stud or female.
Also take the female to where you want to breed her..Males are better staying put and taken the female to him.
Make sure you dog is in good health as with the male and that she is two years old and the male is a year old.

**************** Adding to this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I really need to add this and I know I bad for saying this but in my heart I can't let it go.

Jennifer if you are a kennel owner as you say.. Give it up.
there is no way you are a kennel owner.
For the record the word is Tie not stuck.

tollfree that was funny. lol

As for you iluvgerry.. I have no clue what you are saying..And you are a vet, give me a freaken break.

Anwer55 I agree with you, but that is not what the question was asking.

Wlkms..I am in shock what you just said..throw the books you are reading away and doubt very much you are a breeder.. Can't wait until you start dating lol.

Emily you must be jennifer friend..

Another thing if your dog should tie together for 30 minutes don't panic that is normal.

********Another Add On Here********

I just want to say something to Dane Lover...I have read many of you answer... and even commented on how you should have won best answer when you didn't. I just wanted to tell you that I have the most upright respect for you and your answers. Keep up the good work.

The actual heat cycle itself can be a frustrating thing for owners. It starts out with the female having a clear type of discharge. Then the vulva starts to swell and bleeding commences. Optimal breeding time is ten to fourteen days after the first sign of color (blood) although male dogs won’t care what day in the cycle it is. Make sure the dogs are kept separate during this time. Many injuries to dogs are seen because the male wouldn’t take no for an answer. A female will show a willingness to be bred by “flagging” for an owner. This means she will raise her tail and move it to the side when the area right above her tail is scratched. Once she has shown a willingness to be bred, it is time to place the two dogs together. When this is done, do not just throw them in the back yard together. It is preferable for someone to hold the head of the female while the actual breeding is taking place. Many males have been permanently scarred, by a female who took a sudden change of heart. ♥

Not until it is at least 2 years old, after it has had and passed genetic testing, has been shown and pointed/championed or evaluated to ensure it meets breed standard, has had a thorough pedigree search for health and longevity.
Breeding takes place when the female is receptive sometime between day 9 and day 16 with the average being day 12 - 14.

If you are considering breeding I recommend that you learn all you can about breeding, whelping & newborn care...you should know the answers to at the very least the basics before breeding.

If you don't know about breeding dogs, please don't do it. As others have said there are too many unwanted dogs around.
I have owned and bred Standard Poodles for over 30 years, and each time I mated a ***** I worried in case it would cause her problems and would I find the right owners for the puppies.
Also you need to be aware of any hereditary diseases the breed may carry and do the relevant testing.
A brood ***** is not a money making machine, you need to spend a lot of money to get a healthy litter of pups.

THe best way to pin pont a females breeding heat is to bring her to the vet every two to three days once she has enterd heat to have a vag. smear done this will tell you how far allong n the heat cycle she is when she is 80% she will accept a male for breeding but dont stop going to the vet for vag. smears untill she is 100% breed her once or twice a day makeing sure of a tie each time. in total she should have been coverd at least 4 times to insure that she will become pregnent. You could also talk to your vet about progestrone testing.

Oh my, I agree with Chinas and Dane Lover!!! You don't know what your are talking about and you need to get educated in this.
There are too many unwanted pups in this world now so don't add to that. You sound very young to me so grow up a little before you take on this kind of responsibility.
Responsibility is the key word here!!!!

I know some people are not truthful here but you just give yourself away when you come up with really stupid answers.

About 2 weeks after the start of her season is the most fertile time. the best way to be sure is to either have a Premate blood test or a cytology swab (bit like a smear). These will tell you the optimum time for mating.

You don't - unless you have the necessary knowledge & experience, or the help of a reputable breeder.
You don't breed until you have done all the necessary health checks and have found a suitable stud dog to complement the b1tch.

3-10 days she will be goin into heat
Then 3-10 days that you can bread her
Finally 3-10 days she will be comin out of heat
It usually depends on the dog to know how many days she will be in each stage.
