I say as soon as you find a cruise you would like to book. I know people are telling you the price but I am going on a cruise for my honeymoon and we have gotten it discounted like 5 times already. But you have to keep an eye on the prices everywhere. Once the prices go down you need to call your agent and they can call and get your cruise discounted even more that is the rule of thumb of cruising. That is why you book early plus booking early a get you the better rate and better upgrades. If you are the last one getting on the cruise you get what is left on the cruise and be on the bottom of the ship.
I cruise all the time. So take it from me. Plan ahead, book as soon as possible, and keep a close eye on everything (check once a week. thats what we do) another thing I know this might sound weird if you could travel in a group. that also keeps the rate down too and also the upgrades and you get alot of stuff too. like cocktail parties room credits or free persons. depending on the cruise lines. So far my family has liked Carnival. But good luck and I hope I have helped you.

As early as possible to get the best accommodations on the ship.

My fiance and I reserved our cruise (not a wedding cruise, just a regular cruise) almost a year in advance.

About two weeks because all the cruise lines are not booking many people these days due to all the viruses and mishaps on board these days.
