Lust is a burning desire after someone or something that is not always reciprocated. It's a selfish feeling usually tied to physical attraction. It can be pretty powerful but is usually not lasting. Some people might say it's like a consuming hunger. It's usually temporary and without commitment.
Love is about giving. It's unselfish, kind, and is rooted in communication. You have to know someone to really love them. You have their interests at heart and you're committed to their well being as much as your own.

Lust is what you feel for somebody who turns you on, perhaps by what they wear, or how they talk kinky to you to get you worked up. Love is what you feel when that person is in your thoughts all the time. Not just in the sex department. When you are wondering what that person is doing/thinking when you are not around. When you genuinely care what that person feels, and you put them first above all else. When you will put yourself on the line for that person.

One is short lived, the other can last a life time.
Lust is when you want to have sex with someone and you hardly know them.
Love is when you want to have sex with them because you know them and you want to be closer. (it's a lot more than that - but I think this is adequate for your question.)

One you don't feel guilty and very careful, the other may feel guilt in future.
