Would you want to die if you knew you were going to heaven, and heaven was exactly what you wanted it to be, or would you want to keep fooling around on earth? (remember, the question is if you knew, not if you believed.)

Knowing God is the important thing. If you look at Christianity from the outside, it's not going to make a lot (if any) sense, because the values of a non-believer are different from those of a believer. Though we know that Heaven will be perfectly wonderful without pain or grief, we also know that our Creator has us here on earth for a reason. So we let Him decide when it's time for us to come home. Our lives here should not be merely "fooling around," though.

edit: For your second scenario I'd say probably "go with God." Not because anything in my first answer is not valid, but because I think that if I met Him personally that way that He would be irresistible. But I'm no Elijah, so I'm fairly certain that's not going to happen.

Nope, I wouldn't want to die yet. Death will come when God wills it, and in his own terms. Further, I wouldn't want to precipitate my own death: that would surely make the Pearly Gates slam up against my nosey nose.

The truth of the matter is, for as long as we live, we cannot know for certain whether we will go to heaven. No one can say with absolute certainty that if he dies, he would be heading for heaven.
There always exists the possibility, given the weakness of human nature, that along the way, a person would commit the gravest sins.
Some rely on mere faith as a ticket to heaven, but surely, without the effort to do good for the love of God and other people, that kind of faith would be sterile, even selfish, bereft of meaning.
Fooling around? Although that sounds real fun, I think the real fun awaits us beyond. Happiness comes to those who wait.

all of us could never know if we're suitable to be in Heaven.only God Himself have a final say on that.God is also the one to decide when we die as well based on how we do on Earth.some people die at a young age because God thinks that they truly indeed are suitable enough to be in his heavenly kingdom but some are not as God cannot be everywhere at once as there are many things on both Heaven and Earth that He must tend to.even if some want to kill themselves, they should realize that every big, problematic obstacles are to be thought of as tests and trials by God to see how far we can go.

In Revelations we are told we will be showing our crowns before the throne in Heaven. It also tells us that we will have more jewels the more people we lead to the Lord.

The Bible also says that at judgment day we will be judged for what we have achieved.

I am sure that most people would want t just go. Easier and less chance of failure....But...will you get the the word " well done my gos and faithful servant."

My food is to do th will of God and when I have achieved my purpose, I will also go and be with Him.

That is why I remain on earth!

It's not a case of wanting to die, it's God's will when I die. I really don't see the difference between believing I am going to heaven, or knowing.

Logically yes. If that's exactly the heaven I wanted to be, which is a big if. I was going to add that atheists have a definition of heaven too, but in my definition, belief does not make a difference.

I do know that I am - but I want to die when I'm done here, on Christs timetable.
I have a daughter who died two years ago, and I look forward to seeing her, but I also have a little boy who needs me here.
I'll leave it in the hands of God.

It is the nature of people wanting to live, Jesus did not want to die, Because he ask his Father if this cup can pass let it pass(death) But not my will but thy will. Therefore if our savior was afraid at first & he knew why he was born & where he definatly he would be at Even if we knew & not believe as you say, Every person still want to hang onto life.

The Apostle Paul went over this....

To live is Christ, to die is gain.

We are to live and give our service while we live. We are not supposed to hasten our deaths such as by committing suicide. But we are not supposed to fear death as it is the natural end of life upon this world.

Each life is a journey. We know where it starts and we know it will end.

The question is what will you do with the time you have upon this world?
