Read about Indonesia's ban on sand... And from what i read, it's the ban on concreting sand?

How about sand for beaches? Are the sand used for beaches and golf courses the same type of sand? If the sand are different, then where do sand for beaches and golf courses come from? The sand are finer than the concreting sand i think? Found this topic interesting :)

Sand at beaches often comes from sand and silt carried to the oceans by river currents that form deltas (that look like the Greek letter delta when shaped like a triangle). The silt continues farther out to sea but the sand is separated and deposited when there is too little water current to carry it along. Wave and tidal action spreads the sand along the beach for miles and can even create sand bars farther out. Check the so called outer banks and lagoons. Of course the sand usually represents the hardest grains that survive as mountain rocks are decomposed by weathering and even glaciers. Quartz is very hard. Sand from inland may even represent ancient sea shores and sea beds. Often the sand is cemented (with limestone?) to form sandstone but the grains survive once again as the sandstone itself is weathered. Sand in golf course sand traps would be carefully selected from natural deposits for color and texture and sifted for size.

I don't know where you live, but sand on beaches are usually found there; in other words it is not brought there. Furthermore sand can be made from crushing rocks.
