The answer is another question. Are you enjoying the wine for it's flavour or for it's effect. There is nothing "wrong" with enjoying the relaxing sensation that alcohol gives. But like anyting it should be used in moderation. If you feel depepndant upon wine, i.e. you cannot face an evening in without it, you clearly need to address other issues within your life. Try spending more time with others, perhaps develop your like of wine socially by joining a wine club.

Because it's not being done in the context of a meal. Also drinking an entire bottle before bed makes you an alcoholic in France as well.

Whoever is doing the 'classing' is ignorant of the meaning of 'alcoholic'. This word is thrown around a lot on this board.
Alcoholism is a serious medical condition in which a person is physically and mentally dependent on alcohol -- it is an addiction. It does not mean a person who drinks a lot -- although alcoholics do drink a lot.

Alcoholics are always looking for excuses as to why they aren't alcoholics.
Try going a couple of nights wihtout the wine, and see.

alcohol isn't bad unless you drink more than you set out to or when you didn't want to. then it's a problem.
