He either didn't know about it, or is a good liar.

Everyone flips out when they hear a team tried something and got caught. Why....? Thats what they are supposed to do. For those that don't know, each team pays millions of dollars back their shops for Research & Development. Those R&D guys are not there doing busy work, they are there to come up with something to make their cars and engines run faster.
I applaud Michael Waltrip and his team for trying that deal, if it would have worked he and his team would have been sitting pretty.
For those of you who think your favorite drivers team has never done anything trying not to be caught, you are crazy. Each car in that garage area has something done to it not visible to the human eye, and if NASCAR doesn't catch it, they are hoping it will give them an edge toward a victory.
Get use to it, it's racing, it's how you play the game.

He is racing in the 500... along with all the other guys who were caught cheating.
I don't think he knew. i think if you looked at his actions since being caught, he was really bummed out about it. He even said at one point that he was "too embarassed to wear his own hat." Poor guy. Like he said... he's won it before. It's not like he was in a massive slump and couldn't even place decently. He had a couple decent finished in 06.

I don't think Mikey knew about it.Just like last year with Jimmy Johnson....did he know about the illegal window that Chad Knause put in?Also did Jeff Gordon know that his car was 1 inch lower than NASCAR Standards? If Micheal knew then all the others knew too.So why isn't everyone hammering them?

I'm not sure Mike knew, but banned from racing noway. Jimmie Johnson is still racing. I don't think cheating is right and can't go unpaid for, but banned from racing,NO, anew crew might be in order

He does get to race!! They just need to have one crew (nascar) to build and make sure they are all exactly the same car. So they all can crash and burn together. Is that what nascar is doing? Hell yea, lets just put them all on a hotrod ,(toy) track , then maybe we can control the cars!!! Nascar sucks anymore!!!

i really don't think he knew , that's why they're doing an internal investigation at mwr. what pisses me is that gordon's car was an inch too low, yes he got sent to 42 spot in the field, but nothing else, no fine ,no suspension, robin pemberton fumbled his way through a espn interview on it. it ain't what you know , it's who you blow ! seems kinda funny to me. go jr, smoke, mikey!!!!

I don't believe Mike knew anything about the illegality. He had way, way too much at stake to lose for possibly very little advantage. He's no one's fool, and obviously NASCAR realizes this.
