Go to Jerualem for sure.

It's so amazing.

You could also go to the beaches.

Good luck going to Bethlehem since it's completely surrounded by the nice huge wall the Israeli government has decided to build.

If i were you I would:
go to Jaffa, there is an old part of the city which is really pretty, especially in the evening
go to Tel Aviv, theres lots to do there
go to the south of israel and see the roman ruins
go to ceaseria, and go to a concert in the old roman theater
in jerusalem there is a nice biblical animal zoo if you ahve kids,, and there is a nice science museum, and history museum.

I wouldn't:
go to gaza, or anywhere thats really near the border,
take buses, the cabs are much safer
go to some parts of jerusalem, like the old city is more dangerous

Israel is a beautiful country, and if you dont go to these places, its very safe, everyones really friendly, and the mediteranean climate is really nice, especially the warm evenings when everyone is out having fun. hope i helped, have fun!

Well in order to give you a good comprehensive reply I need to know how long you plan to visit Israel, during which period. Israel is a beautiful country, there is so much to see. If you want to see the archeology, the religious sites, historical places, the desert, the lively cosmopolitan city of Tel Aviv. I can give you a 23 pages tour of what to see in Israel which a fellow American wrote after visiting Israel for 8 times so far, quite fascinating, no charge or course.

I have been all over Israel. In December, we drove very close to the Lebanese border. We also went literally right next to the Syrian-Israeli border and the Jordanian-Israeli border. It was completely safe. We also went into the West Bank. The people there are very caring and we never felt in any danger on the whole trip. If you go, make sure you go to Jerusalem and the Dead Sea for sure.

I've never been to Israel but we did land at the airport to get to Jordan and that was bad enough! Jordan is fabulous by the way. On the way home everybodies bags were individually searched, wiped down looking for gunpowder residue and digital camera photos checked. It took about 2 hours to get through customs. They couldnt seem to grasp that getting 2 weeks off work was perfectly normal! I'm not sure Israel itself is a safe place to holiday tho. The website below will give you more answers.
