When my Shih Tzu had yeast in her skin, my vet said to try Selsun Blue Medicated Shampoo to wash her in. I would bathe her once every 7 to 10 days. Vet said the medication kills the yeast. The yeast problem was gone within a month. Benedryl will alleviate the itching. I gave my 15 lb Tzu 1/2 a baby tablet in the morning and 1/2 in the evening. You may want to check with the vet as to what dose is safe for your dog.
There are different types of creams and ointments you can get from your vet. Maybe the cream was just a cortisone based cream to help alleviate the itching, but not a cream to kill the yeast. Which would be why it doesn't seem to be working. Or if only applied to the obvious spots, it is not getting all the yeast. I would try the shampoo and see what happens. When bathed my girl, I would lather it up and let is sit for a minute or two, then rinse it off thoroughly, and do it one more time. I did NOT use any kind of shampoo brush or scratch her skin to aggravate the surface, just a gentle rubbing it in. Good luck, I hope this helps. I really feel bad for you and your Mom's dog.

you can use bendryll to relieve the itch but you have to stick with the cream and if it is not working your vet needs to know. They maybe other creams or your vet could have made a mistake. contact your vet. you should not have to pay for another office call unless they have to scrape it to test it..
Can you tell I have been to the vets a lot????
