I've been a pilot for almost 40 years - actually had a pilot certificate before I had a driver's license, and grew up around airplanes (my Dad was in Naval Air during WWII, and flew as a civilian for the rest of his life, as well). I had my first airplane ride before I was 4, and grew rapidly enough that I could take the controls of his Bonanza by the time I was 6 or 7 (by that time I was tall enough to reach the rudder pedals and see over the top of the panel). I have flown all my life, and owned lots of airplanes (as many as 7 at once), and restored several, including WWII aircraft, from the ground up. I currently own and fly a Cessna 310 (a high performance twin-engine aircraft), the fourth 310 I have owned. Now that I have answered your question (and there are just under 600,000 others in the U.S. that can also reply that they are pilots), what would you like to know? Most of us (pilots) are passionate about aviation, and like to share and spread that passion.

I'm a sort-of-pilot.

I compete in precision aerobatics... with a model. 30 years of flying radio controlled models.

I've had FAA approved ground school and 2 lessons in a C-172 in 1977.

Not very useful for flying the "full scale" as we modelers call them. If desperate I might be able to land one without killing everyone in it. Barely better than no experience at all. I still remember the meaning of VNE...
