when i enert a partly recorded cd or dvd into dvd witer my computer can't recognize it as a partlly written cd

Question

when i enert a partly recorded cd or dvd into dvd witer my computer can't recognize it as a partlly written cd or and can't also recognize cd/rws , wot can i do i'm using nero and i think the wrong wth computer not with software.
and i write twice or more times on one cd or dvd this before using my writer and now it desplays this cd is not empty and cant erase cd/rw and only can write in a blank cd.

when your burning a cd it gives you the option to either finalize or leave open if you finalize you cannot record to it again if you leave open you can write to it up to 3 times
