Ain't it a hoot when non-Christians misquote the Bible and look totally foolish? I think only the smart Atheist try not to slam people of faith. GED Atheists are funny.

And how much charitable giving will you be deducting on your taxes this year, B?
And I would gladly give you all my "stuff" if I thought it would help, but since mostly what I own is Christian books and movies, I doubt you'd take it.
Although I do have a nice set of bake ware, you do much baking?

As soon as you start selling everything YOU have... A Christian performs this act whenever he gives donations to the poor, sends relief to typhoon victims, shelters the homeless. God doesn't ask you to be dirt poor for his kingdom. The point is one should think of the welfare of others and not be selfish. Taking the bible literally is a mistake a lot of people make, especially ignorant ones who interpret it on their own.

dj....But Paul taught that all worldly possessions should be given over to the church. In "Acts" it even speaks of the holy spirit striking down a man and his wife for holding onto property instead of giving it over for the good of the whole.....Seems that early Christianity taught that God wants us to live in social communes.

Well Brendan, that's fine and dandy in Thailand but in the U.S. doing such idiotic actions result in being homeless and living in a mission.

Brendan the command was directed to one rich man who put value in the things of this world above value in the spiritual things of God.
