You try different ones & chose the one that fits, and looks, the best.

There is nothing like a suitable size in rings, i guess. Best is to ask the person for the size or take her/him along.

If you are good at imagination...while together, check out the fingers and get an approximate size, if big or small get it exchanged.

You could talk to the shop about the conditions of exchange.

I'm not sure if you mean ring size or size of the stone. Are you talking wedding band? or engagement ring? For you or her? Sizing is a simple matter. You just go to a jewelry store together and get sized. If you don't want to do that, see if she has another ring you can discretely borrow and take to a jeweler to identify the size.

If you're choosing an engagement ring, there are lots of things to consider: color, quality, clarity, and cut. Also, the size of the stone. What does she like? What is her personality like? What kinds of jewelry does she already wear? What color gold does she wear, yellow or white? How much are you willing to spend? Also, consider what kind of work she does, for me that was a problem with my engagement ring. It catches on things, so I cannot wear it to work.

I tend to think that jewelry stores take advantage of men a bit because men tend to look at size and cut the most and not pay attention to the other issues, which increase the value of the ring. I suspect that most women prefer quality over quantity. As for how much to spend, they say about two month's salary, but I don't think that's really necessary.

When you go to pick out your ring, the sales person should measure you finger. If you are purchasing it on line, you can go to a store and have them measure your finger for you to tell you what size you need. Beware my fiancee wears a size 8 ring but I bought a size 9 off the Internet and it fit perfect. Rings are like clothing different brands fit differently.

Although there's the obvious "measure your finger" answer (duh), it's important to note that weather can play a factor. If it's
-5 degrees outside and you take your woman to the store to size her finger, it's not going to be accurate. Make sure your/her hands are warm before sizing, since your skin expands when warm. It's much easier to downsize a ring than to make it bigger.

If there is already an engagement ring on the finger your asking about, make sure the wedding band thickness is as close to the engagement ring thickness as possible. You don't want a huge engagement ring and tiny wedding band, or vice versa.

Also, make sure to get the warranty/whatever protection plan the jeweler offers. For instance at Jared they sell a plan where you can come in anytime and get the ring cleaned, repaired, or resized at no extra cost-it's worth it.

Good Luck!

buy a nice looking but cheaper ring (maybe cubic zirc) just to 'pop' the question and then tell her that she can choose the ring. go to a jeweller who will let you return the original one so you dont lose you money. the size doesnt really matter, but maybe get a ring of hers that you know fits and then take that in with you. if you dont have one for 'that' finger, get one for another finger and get the ring a size smaller or bigger depending on what ring you are using. i dont think the size matters cos she can go in and get one that she likes and one that fits, cos remember, she'l be wearing it forever!!!!

good luck

Take one of her rings and bring it with you to the jewelers. They will be able to measure what size it is.

Or do you mean what size diamond? In that case, do not go bigger, go better. Color and Quality are super important.

go to the jewellers and get measured or try on a ring that you know the size for and if it fits then that's your size!
