If you are the type of person that want to preserve it(I heard a joke from my friend about one person removing a kidney just for preserving and put the preserving fluid in.He had to live on one kidney and had no prob with it...then some silly doctor removed it from the fridge, washed it away from the preseving fluid and threw it away)okay, back to where I was- If you want to preserve it...then you can put preserving fluid in.Lasts about 100+ years when you do it.(Some Chinese are very supertitious, they said that when you died,in order to not let ur organs rot you had to preserve it till the funeral so that you can bury the organs with you,so that you can reincarnate..)That was real killer.

An organ can last for awhile maybe 100 yrs or so. The undertakers puts the organ in a preserving fluid. the preservative keeps it live.

It depends on how long it has been removed from the flow of blood, how cold it has been kept, and how much damage has been done to the tissue.

Why? Do you plan on taking one from someone with a rusty spoon? Just wondering.
