Why is it we in America have to be tolerant of any religon, or lifestyles and are never aloud to hinder them in any way i.e. letting Muslims pray in school, teaching homosexual values in school, but its perfectly ok to ban all forms of Christian(or Jewish) worship or symbals in public? Are you not being hypocrate supporting this policy (that is assuming you do)? Please don't missunderstand I think you should be able to practice your religon within reason, I just think Christians and Jews should be given the same right. And in case you are wondering IM a Baptist.

Most people get Sundays off (and Saturdays of course). We use the Gregorian (Christian) calendar. We get Christmas and New Year's Day off. How is this intolerance?

I'm a non-Muslim, non-Christian, and non-Jew. I'm a Baha'i. Do Baha'is, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Jains, etc get their religious holidays off with pay? No we don't, unless we use our own vacation time. We pay in vacation hours, it's not like Xmas where we get the holiday off with pay. Do we use our own calendars? No, we use the Christian calendar. Do we get worship days off? No, only the Christians and Jews do. Now, what side is tolerance mostly on, Christian or non-Christian?

Ah yes, for those of us who fast. Muslims fast during their month of Ramadan, we Baha'is fast during our month of Ala. Do we get shorter work days during the fast? No, we work the full day. We are around others at work and at school who eat and offer us food and drink. This is part of the fast, to say "No, thank you." However, if we were all the same religion, fasting would be easier. No one would offer food and drink, and no one would give funny looks and ask, "WHAT????" when we say we're fasting.

Oh, don't let me get started on the teasing! Getting teased for being different ain't no picnic.

Now you tell me, is it easier for Christians or for non-Christians in this country?

There are several different issues here. First, are you talking about Muslims being allowed to have time to pray during the school day by themselves or leading prayers in the classroom? If its the former, I don't have a problem with that. I would have a problem, as I am sure you would, too, if they made everyone in the classroom say those prayers. If you needed time to yourself for religious practices I would support you in that, also. No one can stop you from praying silently.

Now, about teaching "homosexual values". I was not aware that there were "homosexual values" that are different than regular values. If you mean teaching people to be tolerant, that shouldn't be specific to gays or any other group. No one is interested in making you gay. Believe me on this. The majority of my friends are gay. I know them well and they don't want you, seriously. What they do want is to be able to live their life fully without fear of being hit in the head with a baseball bat.

I'm not aware of any form of 'letting Muslims pray in school'. As a non-religius person I would be as against Muslims in prayer as I would be against Christians in prayer in a public school.

I'm not aware of a double standard. Imagine this: people are fighting about places that put the 10 Commandments on courthouse walls. An equivalent would be a courthouse that had unconstitutionally put quotes from the Qur'an on their wall. Are you aware of any situation in the USA where such a thing has happened - or even conceivably could happen?

If your answer is no - as it well ought to be - you'll see that there is no double standard.
