I've been using Sensodyne for years and never had this problem, perhaps, as you are trying to whiten your teeth when you brush, you might be subconsciously brushing to hard. That would account for the receding gums and partial bleeding. Try and pay attention the next time you brush to the amount of pressure you use and lighten it up a little, your teeth will still get clean.

You are having an allergic reaction to the toothpaste which doesn't happen very often. Contact the company or your dentist for advice and discontinue use immediately. 1-866-844-2797, M-F 9:00am-4:30pm ET. This number is to report adverse reactions and for help in clearing the problem up. Sorry this happened and wish I could be of more help.

For those below: Patients often complain of the tissue sloughing off when using a tooth paste with tartar control. Try one without the tartar control and the problem will stop.

Hiya, i have had this problem too with some toothpastes - in particular ones that are supposed to make your teeth white. Makes the skin on my gums peel off in thin layers, i (sorry to be so graphic). I think it has something to do with the Bi-Carb in it, and a allegeric reaction. I have had this trouble with sensodyne - i have started using the new proenamel one. Perhaps you should switch to that one. Don't think its anything to be overly concerned about, so don't worry.

Sensodyne is manufactured by Glaxo Smith Kline - there are contact details for them here http://www.gsk.com/contactus.htm In the meantime I think you should stop using it.
Good luck, hope this helps.

Tooth Paste manufacturers add anything to improve the sale apeal.FDA never care or watch.Say for example COLGATE is adding Spearmint oil which distroys the eppithillial celss of mouth irrespective of individual sensitivity. We ignote ill effect because it is mild and we get used to it.
IN YOUR CASE,MAY BE YOU ARE MORE SENSITIVE.Questioning to the manufacturer will be legally manupulated and has no meaning.(Like VIOX)
Besides Tooth Paste there are many things like fruit juices,Cakes,Chocolates,Chewing gums etc.for which FDA never cares.I AM WILLING TO FACE FDA AND CAN CHALLENGE THEM IF SOMEONE ON THIS FORUM TAKES UP THE MATTER SERIOUSLY.(nOT THE MANUFCTURER BECAUSE THEIR HANDS ARE LONG.)I have my special permission to YA to disclose my Email address on this subject.
