There are 100's of pubs in my area yet only a couple ads are posted every week. I suggest doing it the old-fashioned way & go door-to-door. Talk to the waitresses, bartenders, managers & FIRST decide if this is somewhere you want to work, then find out how many 'tenders they have & how long they have been working there. If you just walk up to the bar & ask if they are hiring, you may get brushed off before you even get a chance. A pub with a high turnover may be an easy place to get a job but like all the others you may not want to stay long. You could try to impress the bartender by ordering an obscure cocktail & start the conversation there? Often the head bartender is also the owner. Where did you get your training. Do they offer any assistance in job searching?

Getting a job in this industry is very difficult. Only the determined and the good looking get in. It's not very nice but it's the sad truth. In use of those websites, they're good for finding work but not for getting work. Catch my drift? Get the address of the places hiring and actually walk in or mail in your resume. Being on a website, the entire world has access to that one job opening and they are swamped my applications in the first few minutes of posting. Paper resumes handed are rare, resumes and cover letters mailed in are even more rare. Yes, it'll take it a couple days for the postal department to get it there but it will give you an edge that the other on linerers don't have.

As I said, the only ones who make it in this industry are the determined. Keep it up and one day you'll get your job.
