Ringworm of the body is a fungal infection that develops on the top layer of the skin. Generally, it's an itchy, red circle of rash with healthy looking skin in the middle. Over time, it may begin to look like a ring or a series of rings with raised, bumpy borders around a scaly center. Ringworm is contagious and is easily spread from one person to another.

See your health care provider if you have a rash on your skin that doesn't improve within 2 weeks. If excessive redness, swelling, drainage, or fever occurs, see your doctor immediately. If you do, in fact, have ringworm, medication will be prescribed.
