and killed someone in your congregation for this common transgression?:

Lev 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

To someone who does not have true faith, I can see why you would think that this 'law' has any relevence today.

But when Yeshua was born, shed His blood, died and rose again. Laws like this were no longer necessary for salvation or use within the justice system.

The punishment for breaking this law, is now carried out by Yahweh (God) himself. When we all die, He will judge and punish all who have broken His commandments.

The only difference will be, if someone is a believer in Yeshua; which means that their sentence/punishment will be forgiven. Because once a person actually and honestly believes in and confesses their sins to Yahweh. Those sins are forgiven, because Yeshua (Jesus Christ) took upon himself the wrongs of all people and that grants all believers forgiveness.

When believers are in front of Yahweh and He begins to judge us according to our actions, those things which we have done that are wrong in His sight and have been confessed; are forgotten at the moment we confess them. So, they will not be held against us.

This is a promise freely granted, to all believers in Yeshua!

Those are Old Testament laws that the Hebrews used to survive in an extreme environment. Relax, no one's going to stone you.

No one has followed God's laws, thats why we need Jesus so much. WE CAN'T STOP SINNING! Only jesus can cure our transgressions. As for stonning the blashphemers it was a cultural thing the jews and most other sociieties have outgrown.

I think a lot of the stuff in the Bible is really exaggerated by the men who wrote it.God is loving and merciful. If not why did he give us another chance ,and did not destroy the earth when man killed his son.

The new covenant church makes God's laws today.

The old ones have served their purpose, and ever since Jesus died on the cross, they are no more.

Most of us have followed God's Laws at one time or another. But we have also broken them. That's why we need Jesus.
