Hi there. Yeah, I know how intimidating installing a complex operating system is, especially if one isn't too knowledgable on every single technical term (not even me knows everything, and still learning) that comes up. Here's a perfect site with photos to help you step by step. It's very very good.

Hope this helps you out, and good luck! :-)

Hi, its pretty easy and you dont need to delete anything. You canb try to ways.
Place CD in your computer. Close your computer. Unplug it too. Then plug again, and press button to initiate it should start reading the CD directly and you just install XP in same place and same way than before and all your files and everything will be OK. If this does not wotk the slightly more complicated.
Place CD in your computer. Close your computer. Unplug it too. Then plug again and press button to initiate it, when black screen appear with white letter press Control-delete buttom or ook at the bootom of screen and it will always indicate what key you need to press to go into the bios setup and configurtions program.
Porbably then Bios will open blue back ground and there go thogu different setting using arrow button in keyborad, since mice does not work there, and find a title wich will say something like open my computer or boot my computer and list in order of preference what will or from where to open it. It will be something like C: A: B: D: opetions or more, usually D: is for cd, unless in your machinme the cd has other letter but still it will apperar there use the arrows to put you CD letter in first place so that the boot from or open from D = CD or wwhatever, then Ok it or in screen bottom it will indicate what to press to OK and save, if it asks you are you sure you want to save new setting say yes. Close your computer. When you open it will boot directly from your Cd, ISNTALL OR REPAIR OPTIONS appear choose one of them, if you dont know much choose Install, if it say already windows there, say intall anyways or overwrite or jsut continue from cd, and do as I explained in steps before, the easy way above and it will install XP again qand you will not loose any files.Start computer again if it doesnt do it automatically, whi9ch is the normall thing, and now it will start directly from C:
If you want to clean you computer form other programs or applications. Go to setting, add/remove programms/sofware and list appears remobe what you want and ok.
If you reformat you will loose all the infromation and files on your computer and I am sure you do not want to do that but you can do it by following these more complicated option and then selct from options the combination to Format your C: or whatever drive you have. It will delete everything you ever had, and also it will have to reinstall all drivers, programs etc etc. You can also install a disquette version of MS dos and use it to format and then install XP. Again I would not do that unless you know how to.
Go with the easier and unless it does not let you try then other. If it does not work you can email me explaining what happens in more detail and I will give you other step-by-step instructions
Best regards
S

Restart your PC, but right when its booting, as soon as the logo pops up, hold the f10, f1 or delete button ( I think that button varies on differnet PC's) that should take you to the BIOS setup screen., or a list of options including the setup screen. Once there, use the arrows to go over to where it says "boot". select boot device priority (or whatever it says) basically its a list of the possible devices to boot from. The CDrom needs to be set on the first one. Once thats done, just hit f10, and select y, enter. It should restart and start setting up windows by itself. dont worry about formatting and all of that stuff beforehand, cause the setup should prompt you to do all that anyways. If there is anything you want to keep, make sure you back it up beforehand, or its gone!! Hope this helps.....

Start your computer with the XP cd in the drive. Select "new installation" when prompted. When you get to the point where you to select a partition, delete the current partition and then create the new one, Just follow the prompts after that.

Before you reformat your hard drive you should run your anti-virus program in Safe Mode. Also run your Anti-spyware/ malware program too.
To get in to Safe mode, start your computer and press the F8 key.
and use the scroll up button and highlight the Safe mode.
After you have scanned and removed any viruses, or spyware you may have, Restart the computer normally and see if that speeds it up. Then go into Start>All Programs>Accessories> System tools and chose Disk Cleanup and run that. After you have cleaned up the drive Go back into System tools and Defragment the drive
You May have a virus or spyware that is freezing the computer
