I mean, nobody says 'Boost bar' or 'Flake bar' or 'Toffee Crisp bar', so why 'Mars bar'?

There is a bounty bar, a crunchie bar, lion bar ..... just comes off the top of my head. Perhaps I would find more, if I were to put my mind to it.

That, my friend is a wonderful question!!!! I'd never thought of that one before!!!! Nowhere on the wrapper does it say "bar" and to my knowledge no adverts called them bars either. It was "a Mars a day helsp you work, rest and play"

You forgot Moon Pies too ! i might call a chocolate bar after something stylish/cutesy or unique. Like "Stiletto Creme" or "Chanel Cocoa" Or "the suited element in view that sliced bread"... of direction this is a sprint long... ?

The candies are bar shaped, and people nickname them "candy bars", and some names fit in that, some don't.

Probably to separate it from the planet Mars.

My favourite is when news readers talk of "The Sun newspaper". Surely that should be "The Sun comic".
