I hope that you are going now - it's smack bang in the middle of the carnaval there - probably the second most amazing event of the sort after the carnaval of Rio. Barranquilla has a reputation for unbearable heat - make sure you get a room with good air conditioning. Expedia.com will offer a few options, otherwise just google for "hoteles barranquilla". People there are incredibly friendly - just relax and enjoy the Caribbean lifestyle.

wow, i am colombian and i lived in the neighboring city of barranquilla, santa marta, and i went to barranquilla almost every weekend because its really beautiful there. go to beaches, just go out and have fun, go to places where many tourists go so you can feel more safe, women are very pretty, just like me, lol, just have fun and people are very friendly, wear comfy and light clothes because it is hot, and dont wear a lot of jewerly, if you know why. hope u have fun!
