Heaven is a literal place and children need to understand this. The EXACT location is unknown, but it certainly is not on this earth. Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is with you. This is a spiritual principle, meaning that heaven begins in the heart. Jesus also said that he is the way, the truth and the life, and that no one comes unto to Father, but by him. Jesus is the way to heaven and in order to find the path one must first start with his/her own heart. If Jesus is not in the heart, then a person cannot find the path to heaven. No Jesus, no heaven; know Jesus, know heaven. The 11th Commandment, love thy neighbor as thyself is a good start for any child as well as any adult who is interested in getting to heaven.

I have 3 daughters, and if one asked me that question, I would tell them the Christian concept of Heaven (that some believe) and then I would tell them what I believe. and that is to make the most of this world as I believe you create your own heaven on earth and to not take anything forgranted. No belief can be proven so don't assume that you get another chance at life.

When Jesus ascended into heaven there were over 500 people at one time watching Him rise into the clouds. We won't see heaven until after we die. Heaven is where God the Father, and Jesus live.

try explaining what heaven is like and how they can get there. My mom died two years ago. My littelst sister had just turned 6. It was heart wrenching to know she had to lose her mom at only 6. But knowing Mommy was with angels and jesus in an invisible place called heaven satisfied her.

I would say that only the people who have gone there know where it is and that the path is more important than the location of the goal.
