By the time Paul and co. were done, there was very little left that's actually Jewish. Just enough imagery to 'prove' that Jesus fulfilled the Hebrew messianic prophecies.

Of course that included things like having him ride in on two separate animals at one time (apparently he had his feet on the smaller of them), when that was just an artifact of the region's dominant historical poetic style. Very silly what Christians will do in the name of literalism. But hey, we can't really fault them, can we? It's in their first recorded texts.

wow, I am amazed at the comments in here. God is revealed as the first and the last, the alpha and omega, and the aleph and tav. The aleph and tav is the first and last letter of the hebrew alphabet. All of the above represent that God is the beginning of all things and brings all things to completion.
At the time the NT was written it was written in greek, referencing the hebrew letters of alpha and omega.
When Jesus said that He is the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, it is literally referencing the first and the last letters of the hebrew alphabet, which has great significance if you want to do a study for yourself on this.
I am not a hebrew scholar, but these was a really basic question that deserves a correct answer.

Very interesting question. It was meant to help those individuals who believed in all the Greek 'gods', understand about the One True Living God (Yahweh).

The books of the Bible that were written in Greek, were originally intended to be read by Greek-Jews; not us. So that those Jews would be taught that Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is in fact the Messiah that they were told about in the Old Testament or the Torah - which was written in Aramaic and Hebrew.

If we had the original copy of the book of Revelations, it might actually give the Hebrew letters instead of Greek, but I suspect the original was Greek, as were Luke and Acts, since the book was addressed to the seven churches in western Turkey.

Perhaps because the NT was written in Greek? It was written specifically in NT Greek, an older style of Greek, even for the day.

God is not the first and last letters; He is the Creator of all divine letters before the development of any human alphabets. The first and last letters of the Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek...are only examples and translations suitable to the level of development of mankind in various ages.

As you mentioned, Alpha & Omega is Greek. The Hellenized Jews mostly spoke Greek (more than Hebrew). Therefore, it is more easier for them to comprehend. If you don't have faith in Jesus, leave those that do alone and quit publishing your nonsense ideas. God bless you.
