Greg ~
I actually sparred with Mickey Rourke the actor while he had a brief stint as a professional boxer, although he had a lot of heart, he was easy to hit and didn't like to be hit.

Mario Lopez works out at Wild Card Gym in L.A., although it's Freddie Roaches gym he basically does his own thing there, sometimes he gets advice from trainer Macka Foley.

A few years back Cuba Gooding Jr. was in a movie called "Gladiator" I know, I know, not the Russell Crowe one. Cuba and cast were at the now closed Windy City Gym in Chicago Illinois and a friend of mine Johnny Bellino who also had a bit part in the movie invited me to watch the cast workout, and Cuba had decent skills.

Wesley Snipes starred in a movie called "Streets of Gold" and he had decent skills as witnessed by the people who watched him workout at Gleasons Gym. Wesley admitted himself "That Boxing isn't for me, I don't want to get hit."

Russell Crowe did "Cinderella Man" and was so full of himself that he sparred with Anthony Mondaine and according to people that were there he looked completely foolish in doing so.

There have been many, many actors who tried to box and just as many boxers who've tried to act, remember OJ Simpson acting like a boxer? Hideous! How about Michael J. Fox in "Teen Wolf Too"? but there is one actor that stood out, that could've been a serious and pretty decent boxer and that is Robert Deniro. I had the opportunity to watch him train with Al Certo and Jake Lamotta for his starring role in Raging Bull. He was good, a bit over obsessed but good and he actually trained as a real fighter would train.

If there was a Championship Fight with actors who played fighters, it would have to be Stallone vs Deniro. Jake stops Rocky in two rounds.

Thanks for the great question Greg.

Nobody is gonna take down sly stallone. If it were a real boxing match though I would have to go with Tony Danza, he was a real boxer.

well you forgot about boxers who try to be actors as well. Tommy Morrison is one and techinally Roy Jones jr is an actor with that joes vs pros garbage. And TV Star George Foreman has to be mentioned as well.
