Nope.Here are the possiblities:
1.You're not listening carefully to what they say
2.Their pronounciation on some words might not be right to you
3.They are speaking too softly.
I had to act as if I can't hear what my friends say because she's irritating.

I think once in awhile we all do that. It could be because we are spaced out in a totally different world. It could be because we're thinking about something else or have our mind on something else.. and no matter how many times u make the person repeat it you still don't hear it. I do that alot. Do u have alot on your mind? Stressed? Worried alot? You could just not be paying attention. Sometimes someone will ask you something and you say what? and then they start to say the sentance over again and before they are done asking the question u answer it. Cus the first time your mind only caught part of what they said. It's not necissarily hearing loss. It's possible but alot of the times it's someone not paying attention.

it could mean a loss in hearing
too much backround noise
they talked to softly
you are too stupid to understand the question and blame it on hearing loss.

I've noticed I've been having a harder time understanding people than before, I'm pretty sure it is hearing loss.

No, we should not think like that. Because the voice may not be clear.
Pronounciation may not be upto the mark.
Due to the distance between the two persons voice may not reach the ear drum clearly.
Due to heavy wind it may not reach clearly.
Due to polution it may not reach the ear drum clearly.

I do that a lot, but it's because I don't really pay attention to what they're saying. Is the problem really volume or are you just distracted?
